FAQ - Proportioner - Troubleshooting

Q: There is water going back in to the chemical container on my proportioner or Sani-Clean III.

A: On a typical proportioner, the venturi does the job of creating vacuum at the inlet port to draw chemical in. If the venturi is not working properly, or if there is an obstruction down stream of the venturi, then the water stream will take the path of least resistance and travel down the pickup line. The Sani-Clean is slightly different in that it requires a checkvalve right at the venturi body because there is static water pressure in the venturi when the unit sits idle. Inspect the checkvalve and replace as needed.

Q: Why is water leaking from the clear plastic cap on the KP1H?

A: Check the screws that hold the cap in place, and make sure they are tight and not stripped.

Q: Why did the supply nipple break off of the venturi body?

A: The nipple should never have force applied to it to increase "leverage" when removing the venturi body.

Q: The supply tube will not hold prime.

A: Check the footvalve, and replace it if necessary. May also be cracks or leaks in the supply tube.

Q: The foaming wand is not working, and not making foam.

A: Check for proper water pressure and make sure the handle of the pistol grip is squeezed all the way (fully engaged). Also check the air inlet holes on the side of the wand and ensure they are not blocked.

Q: The chemical is not coming up the supply tube. KP1H & MX series.

A: Check for proper water pressure. Make sure there are no obstructions in the metering tip, pickup line, or footvalve.

Q: Raw chemical is being siphoned out the bucket fill hose.

A: This can happen if the end of the hose is submerged in the bucket while filling it, thus not allowing air to enter the hose. Newer systems have been designed to prevent this problem. Older systems may need a hose with an "anti-siphon" hole that allows air to enter the hose.
